Irè a Mexico!

Random adventures, unexpected plans, the unknown…three things I enjoy, especially when travel is involved. So when a friend mentioned his trip to Mexico to get practical hours at a rural clinic, I felt a twinge of envy, and told him so. After being back in the States for 6 months, I am getting itchy feet again to go somewhere, experience something unique, and serve the underserved. What I didn’t count on was his quick reply of “well come with me then, a travel buddy would be welcome!” I definitely did not think it would actually be possible for me to go on a nearly 5 week trip given my full time job. But my boss readily agreed, I found co-workers to cover all the necessary shifts, and the tickets were purchased…things seamlessly fell into place within a matter of days, and two weeks before the departure date it was decided that I will be going to Mexico.

What I do know: we will be gone from Feb 25-March 30th, we are going to a small clinic in Bella Vista, Chiapas in South Mexico, there are 2 doctors, a psychologist, and a physical therapist, along with several other non-medical individuals that assist at the clinic. They do surgeries, and many days have inpatients from the surgeries and for various other reasons, along with hydrotherapy/massage type treatments. What I don’t know: pretty much everything else =)

The one thing that I am sure of, is that it will be a fun, interesting, sometimes difficult, faith-stretching, learning, growing experience, and I can’t wait!
